Michigan Takes On Recreational Marijuana Rules Under Newly-Named Bureau

The state’s Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs has added regulation of cannabis to the newly-named Bureau of Marijuana Regulation.

With recreational use of marijuana now legal in Michigan, the state’s Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs has added regulation of cannabis to the newly-named Bureau of Marijuana Regulation.

Before the change, announced Dec. 6, LARA regulated medical cannabis only through the Bureau of Medical Marihuana. The BMR combines existing oversight functions of Michigan’s patient/caregiver registry and facility licensing for medical marijuana with the new regulations for recreational marijuana.
