Georgia State Rep. Releases Medical Cannabis Legislation Details


State Representative Allen Peake from Macon plans to file legislation today that would expand on the medical marijuana bill passed in last year's legislative session.

Peake told WXIA in Atlanta, the new legislation would allow people with Alzheimer's, Epidemolysis Bullosa, Aids, Tourette's Syndrome, and intractable pain to qualify for medical cannabis. That's on top of the eight medical conditions listed in the current law.

Peake also shared his plan to allow for a certain number of licensed growers in the state, which has been the center of many debates by legislators. He said he would expect between two and six licensed growers throughout Georgia.
