"Gov. Jerry Brown's administration has proposed a plan for merging regulations for [California's] medical and recreational marijuana ahead of licensing the growing and selling of the latter next year," according to a recent LA Times report.
Under the new plan, the state-issued medical marijuana ID cards would be eliminated, as would requirements for marijuana to be distributed by a third party, the Times reported. Proposition 64 licensing structure also would apply to recreational and medical marijuana.
Among other changes under the proposal, Prop. 64's rules would also govern when background checks are required of owners and/or license holders.
