Ohio (WTVG) - Medical marijuana prescriptions could soon be coming from a doctor's office near you. The State Medical Board of Ohio approved the first round of doctors who will be able to recommend medical marijuana to patients.
The state of Ohio Board of Pharmacy is still working to establish a patient registry, which is expected by late summer. Dispensaries are set to be operational by September 8.
The state and medical board require physicians to complete a two-hour course on prescribing medical marijuana.
The state approved medical marijuana back in September of 2016. Under the law, certified physicians can recommend patients with qualifying medical conditions to apply for medical marijuana patient cards.
