Kentucky Lawmaker Introduces Marijuana Decriminalization Bill

Sen. Jimmy Higdon sponsored Senate Bill 82, which would make the penalty for possessing marijuana for personal use only a pre-payable, non-criminal fine.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) - A Kentucky Republican lawmaker has introduced a bill which would lessen penalties for marijuana possession.

Sen. Jimmy Higdon, R - Lebanon, is the sponsor of Senate Bill 82, which would make the penalty for possessing marijuana for personal use only a pre-payable, non-criminal fine.

Violators would face a $100 fine or serve 15 hours of community service. Possessing marijuana on school property would raise the penalty to a $250 fine or 30 hours of community service.
