DENVER - Do you want money back, or should the state spend it? That’s the question before voters with Proposition BB.
A “yes” vote will allow Colorado to retain and spend $66.1 million, which is the amount of money generated in the year 2014-15 by taxes on marijuana.
A “no” vote means the state will give the money back to taxpayers in the form of a refund.
“We feel the money would be a lot more beneficial for people in their own pockets,” said 420 Rally Organizer, Miguel Lopez, who noted that many people are struggling to keep up with the escalating cost of living in metro Denver.
“We are in favor of this proposal,” countered Michael Elliott of the Marijuana Industry Group. “It really goes back to our support of Proposition AA, which created these taxes.”
