Recreational
marijuana sales are expected to start within two weeks, as the state assembles
the final pieces of the puzzle to launch the legalized market.
Cannabis
Control Commission Chairman Steven
Hoffman said after a hearing on Thursday that the state would allow
dispensaries to begin sales of recreational marijuana “within the next week or
two,” after final inspections of the businesses are performed. Following these
inspections, the state will issue a “certificate of commence operations,”
allowing dispensaries to open for business, he said.
The two dispensaries that have already received final licenses and are the farthest along in the state's process are Cultivate in Leicester and New England Treatment Access in Northampton.
