Officers of the Southwest Iowa Narcotics Task Force have hand delivered letters to a number of Council Bluffs businesses informing owners that the sale of and/or possession of products containing CBD is illegal in the state of Iowa.

Only one business in Council Bluffs is licensed by the state to sell CBD products: Have a Heart Compassionate Care, 3615 Ninth Ave.

As allowed by the state, there are only five licensed CBD oil dispensaries in Iowa.

Michigan AG Dana Nessel Eyes Tweaks to Recreational Marijuana Law

Attorney General Dana Nessel and a workgroup she convened are exploring clarifying changes to the recreational marijuana law approved by voters last year.

The law, which appeared as Proposal 1 on the 2018 ballot, legalizes marijuana for those over 21 and creates a regulatory structure to license marijuana businesses, 56 to 41 percent.

Nessel supported the proposal but is left with some legal questions about how to implement it. There are some things “they just didn’t address” in the law, she said, including penalties for some marijuana-related infractions.

TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami/NSF) – State Rep. Shevrin Jones, D-West Park, filed legislation Monday that would decriminalize possession of certain amounts of marijuana in Florida, a bill that could be a longshot in the Republican-dominated Legislature.

“We must restore justice to our broken criminal justice system. For far too long, communities of color have been disproportionately impacted by laws governing marijuana, and we must end this injustice once and for all,” Jones said in a prepared statement.

The new Thai Public Health Minister and deputy PM, Anutin Charnvirakul, will allow hospitals to prescribe marijuana to some patients in a move to make the alternative medicine more publicly available.

“This week I will sign an order to allow ministry-run hospitals to prescribe the cannabis oil extracts,” he told the Bangkok Post.

The minister says he vows to push ahead with his policies to make cannabis products more available to the Thai public when he lined up with fellow ministers to share their visions during the “Roadmap to Success-Up Close with Thailand’s New Ministers” event.

PORTLAND (WGME) -- Maine's largest city is one step closer to finalizing regulations for recreational marijuana shops.

"This is really the first opportunity for the city council to start to dive into the details of this,” Portland City Councilor, Justin Costa said.

Within the proposal the city says they hope to limit the number of stores to 20, put a ban on delivery services, as well as require stores have staff for security and quality control.
