[PRESS RELEASE] – PRESCOTT, Ariz., Sept. 3, 2026 – BatchNav, a cannabis operations intelligence platform, is partnering with Cannabis Business Times to host a free educational webinar, “Five Reasons Your Cannabis Margins May Be Wrong, and How to Fix Them,” on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2026, at 1 p.m. ET.
The live session will address a growing financial challenge for cannabis operators. The margins used to guide pricing, production and investment decisions may not accurately reflect what products actually cost to produce.
The webinar will examine five common costing practices that distort product margins and show cultivation and manufacturing leaders how actual resource consumption can provide a clearer picture of product economics. “If your product cost data is flawed, every pricing and production decision that follows is being made with an incomplete picture,” said Michael O’Connor-Masse, co-founder and CXO of BatchNav.
Traditional costing approaches can obscure meaningful differences between products by averaging costs across production even though labor requirements, cycle times, equipment utilization, inventory and operational complexity can vary significantly from one batch or SKU to another. As a result, a product that performs well based on yield or sales volume may tell a different financial story once the resources required to produce it are fully accounted for.
“A product can look successful based on yield or sales and tell a very different story once you account for the labor, equipment, inventory and other resources required to produce it. We want operators to leave this webinar knowing where to look for those blind spots and which numbers they should be questioning,” O’Connor-Masse said.
The webinar will feature O’Connor-Masse and Caleb Tice, president of T3 Advisors, who will walk attendees through five areas that can create margin blind spots, including standard costing, pooled cost allocation, inventory and work in process, equipment utilization and SKU complexity.
Attendees will also learn which operational and financial metrics can help leadership evaluate product profitability, capital utilization and production performance more accurately, providing a stronger foundation for decisions around pricing, production, product mix and investment.
The free webinar is designed for cannabis executives, owners, CFOs, cultivation and operations leaders, and others responsible for production and financial decision-making.
