[PRESS RELEASE] – SALT LAKE CITY, Oct. 20, 2026 – Calyx, a cannabis and packaging technology company with a decade of manufacturing and sourcing experience, announced the launch of packOS, an operating system for enterprise packaging designed to modernize how complex packaging portfolios are sourced, priced and moved toward production.
Built based on the Calyx team’s 10 years of experience dealing with common pain points, packOS takes a procurement process still commonly managed through email threads, spreadsheets and manual quotes and brings it into a single digital experience. Enterprise buyers can upload existing artwork and receive production-ready files, photorealistic renderings and pricing across multiple domestic and international sourcing paths, with corresponding lead times that make it easier to compare options and make purchasing decisions.
The platform launches first with Quick Quote, its first major component and the centerpiece of the initial packOS experience. Quick Quote allows enterprise buyers to upload existing packaging artwork and, within seconds, receive production-ready files, photorealistic renderings, sourcing options, pricing and corresponding lead times across multiple domestic and international production paths.
That simple experience sits on top of a platform designed specifically for the complexity of enterprise packaging, where teams may be managing hundreds of SKUs, multiple suppliers and manufacturers, tight launch schedules, different production methods and changing inventory needs at the same time.
“Enterprise packaging is complicated, but buying it shouldn’t have to be,” Calyx co-founder and CEO Simon Knobel said. “The more products, markets and suppliers a company manages, the easier it is for the process to disappear into email chains, spreadsheets and back-and-forth quoting. We built packOS to give those teams the speed and visibility they need to make better packaging decisions.”
Two additional components of functionality that will be launched after Quick Quote include Artwork Approval and Order Management, allowing capabilities including artwork approvals and expanded order management, and will further connect quoting, proofing, production, delivery and reordering within the platform.
packOS was developed by the team behind Calyx Containers, which recently marked 10 years in the packaging industry. That experience is central to the platform’s approach: Rather than building software around a theoretical procurement process, Calyx developed packOS from years spent navigating real-world packaging engineering, sourcing, manufacturing and fulfillment challenges.
The result is a platform intended to serve packaging-intensive businesses across industries.
Calyx first built its reputation tackling complex packaging challenges within cannabis, where regulations, multistate operations and extensive product portfolios make procurement particularly demanding. With packOS, the company is applying those lessons more broadly across supplements, nutraceuticals and other consumer packaged goods categories.
“Cannabis gave us an incredible proving ground because there is very little room for packaging to be simple,” Calyx co-founder and President Alex Gonzalez said. “But the underlying problems are much bigger than one industry. Enterprise brands everywhere are dealing with too many manual steps, too little visibility and too much time between needing a packaging solution and actually getting one. packOS was built to close that gap.”
Another key feature of the packOS system is that artificial intelligence and automation are embedded throughout packOS to accelerate time-intensive packaging tasks, including elements of estimating, artwork preparation and prepress. Calyx sees that technology as a way to increase what packaging professionals can accomplish, rather than remove people from the process.
“The conversation around AI too often starts and ends with headcount,” Knobel said. “We think the more interesting opportunity is what happens when you take repetitive tasks off talented people’s plates. If technology can handle more of the administrative work, your team can spend more time solving customer problems, improving manufacturing and building what comes next.”
That philosophy reflects Calyx’s broader ambition for packOS: pairing software speed with the packaging expertise required to make complex enterprise decisions.
As adoption grows, Calyx plans to expand packOS with additional procurement, approval and order-management capabilities while using platform data to help customers better understand packaging costs, production options, lead times and sourcing decisions.
For Calyx, the launch begins a second decade that looks markedly different from its first.
“We spent 10 years becoming packaging experts,” Knobel said. “Now we’re putting that expertise into software and giving enterprise brands a fundamentally better way to buy packaging.”
