[PRESS RELEASE] – PETALUMA, Calif., Oct. 6, 2026 – Wherefour, the ERP platform for batch and process manufacturers, has launched a new suite of AI features across its platform, allowing for operational efficiency with people at the center of every decision. Customers can now connect the AI tool they already use to their Wherefour account and ask questions about their manufacturing data. AI also drafts compliance setup work, which their teams review and approve before anything goes into use.

The new capabilities let manufacturers work with their Wherefour data through tools they already use. The Wherefour MCP (Model Context Protocol) Connector links Claude, ChatGPT, and other MCP-compatible AI tools to the customer’s Wherefour account, providing read-only access to data across inventory, production, purchasing, sales, and traceability. Teams can use natural language to find information, explore trends, answer operational questions, and build dashboards from their own data. AI can be used to analyze their business while Wherefour, a SOC II-audited traceability platform, remains the system of record.

Beyond the MCP connector, Wherefour’s expanded suite of AI capabilities streamlines regulatory workflows and minimizes the hands-on workload required to establish and support compliance operations. The latest addition of document auto-tagging joins existing AI capabilities for Control Points and Test Definitions:

  • Document Auto-tagging: AI reads an uploaded document like a COA (certificate of analysis) and suggests tags such as lot number, barcode, invoice, location, customer, and vendor. Users accept, edit, or remove as necessary.
  • AI Control Points: A user describes the control points a process needs, and AI drafts them. Each one is reviewed and approved before it goes into use.
  • AI Test Definitions: A user describes a quality test, and AI drafts the fields, field types, required fields, and validation rules. The team reviews and approves before it's used.

With much of the software industry racing toward autonomous AI integration, Wherefour chooses a more careful and deliberate path.

“We believe AI should make manufacturers faster without taking decisions out of their hands,” Wherefour CEO Matthew Brown said. “In an ERP, the cost of a wrong answer can be high, whether it affects inventory or a customer order. That’s why we’ve taken a deliberate approach. Give teams faster access to their data, let AI do the legwork, and keep people responsible for reviewing and approving what happens next.”

The MCP Connector, Document Auto-Tagging, AI Control Points, and AI Test Definitions are available now to every Wherefour customer. All AI features are off by default, giving customers the choice of when and how to introduce AI into their workflows.
