Planet 13 celebrated the grand opening of its much-anticipated cannabis consumption lounge in Las Vegas April 5, which is housed in its 112,000-square-foot SuperStore just off the Strip and designed with the same glitzy appeal of its flagship location.

Visitors enter the 3,000-square-foot lounge, Dazed!, through a “secret phone booth door”—a nod to speakeasy’s during the alcohol prohibition era—which features cannabis-centric decor such as bong chandeliers. The menu includes an assortment of cannabis products such as flower, prerolls, concentrates, vapes, edibles as well as cannabis-infused cocktails, all of which can be enjoyed in the facility.

The space features cozy chairs, couches and private, reservable nooks with table service, and, like the rest of Planet 13’s entertainment complex, is meant to be a destination on par with other Las Vegas experiences.

The grand opening comes nearly 10 months after the Nevada Cannabis Compliance Board (CCB) officially granted the vertically integrated cannabis company its consumption lounge license, which Planet 13 initially won in November 2022 along with 39 other prospective licensees. The company met its stated goal of being open by the popular cannabis industry holiday 4/20.

“This is an exciting moment for Planet 13, for Las Vegas, and for the cannabis industry. Dazed is a first-of-its-kind cannabis entertainment venue that is trailblazing a new path," said Larry Scheffler, Co-CEO of Planet 13, in a press release. "Since the inception of Planet 13, we've been driven by the conviction that cannabis should be more than just a product—it should be an immersive experience. We live by the mantra: ‘We want to out-Vegas, Vegas."

Las Vegas' first cannabis lounge, Smoke and Mirrors, opened at the end of February. Operated by Thrive Cannabis Marketplace, it was one of the first three companies to be awarded a conditional consumption lounge license. The others were Planet 13 and Sol Cannabis, according to a CCB press release.

Consumption lounges have been years in the making in the state. Gov. Steve Sisolak signed legislation in June 2021 to legalize cannabis consumption lounges, and the CCB approved rules in June 2022, according to previous reporting from Cannabis Business Times. CCB approved the first three conditional licenses in June 2023, and has so far issued 40 prospective licenses to businesses, who must submit more documentation to receive a conditional license. Licensees must also pass a CCB inspection and receive approval from their local jurisdictions.

Planet 13’s Dazed! cannabis consumption lounge will be open Monday-Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. and Friday-Sunday 10 a.m. to 2 a.m.
