Tuesday, Bernalillo County and Santa Fe County (New Mexico) residents were asked to vote on decriminalizing one ounce or less of marijuana. Both non-binding ballot questions passed*:

Santa Fe County:

For: 73.10% (33,268 votes)

Against: 26.9% (12,245 votes)

Bernalillo County:

For: 59.51% (91,387 votes)

Against: 40.49% (62,171 votes)

*The results, however, will be “advisory” and send a message to the legislature, where the “next steps toward marijuana policy reform will take place.”

The council of the City of Santa Fe voted to decriminalize small amounts of marijuana in August.
