TALLAHASSEE — More than 20 revisions filed to a medical marijuana bill giving terminally ill individuals access to cannabis caused the legislation to be temporarily postponed in a busy Senate session on Tuesday.
While SB 460 remains on the list of legislation still to be discussed on the Senate floor, further delays could affect the legislation’s viability, particularly if more amendments to the bill pile up before the session ends in three weeks.
Senate President Andy Gardiner warned lawmakers that more revisions could force the bill back to committees, where it wouldn’t necessarily be heard again this spring.
“You are running the risk of this bill being referred back to committee,” Gardiner told the Senate. “I’m a little bit concerned about the number of amendments, and I anticipate there’ll be more.”
