SANTA CRUZ >> Illegal marijuana-delivery services in unincorporated Santa Cruz County may soon find themselves in a sticky situation as officials prepare for an enforcement crackdown.
Cannabis has been legal for recreational sale in California since Jan. 1, but licenses are required from both the state and local jurisdiction. While brick-and-mortar retailers have been quick to comply with the licensing requirements, a number of illegal home-delivery services appear to be quietly continuing to serve clientele across the state.
Santa Cruz county’s cannabis chief, Robin Bolster-Grant, says her office is tracking at least six illegal services that appear to be delivering to clients in unincorporated Santa Cruz County.
A quick search of online cannabis business directory weedmaps.com lists a number of services as delivering within Santa Cruz County. Many are not among Santa Cruz County’s 12 licensed dispensaries.
