Especially compelling is No. 5, which notes: "Typical drugs are full of nasty chemicals that can provide a laundry list of unwanted side effects, ranging from skin rashes to organ failure and death. Pharmaceuticals are also far more addictive and incredibly more deadly if used improperly." I just posted a piece citing eye-opening statistics from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention about drug-related deaths, which found that "In 2013, of the 43,982 drug overdose deaths in the United States, 22,767 (51.8%) were related to pharmaceuticals."
Medical marijuana advocates have been fighting to legalize it for years. With a shift in thinking all over North America, due in large part by the five reasons detailed below, they’ve made great headway. Over the years, citizens have been seeing the therapeutic benefits of marijuana’s use for medical purposes. Currently, medical marijuana is legal in all of Canada as well as almost half of the states in the U.S., while a few other states are currently pending legislation.
