[PRESS RELEASE] – HOUSTON, Oct. 14, 2025 – Zennetix, a tissue culture lab based in Conroe, Texas, announced the inaugural members of the Breeders’ Council, uniting four award-winning, multigenerational cannabis breeders from the Emerald Triangle and Oregon. The council will make its celebrated genetics available to cultivators across the country through Zennetix’s proprietary tissue culture clone program and subscription-based sales model.
The founding members of the Breeders’ Council include:
- Johnny Casali – Huckleberry Hill Farms (Humboldt County, Calif.): A second-generation grower whose farm honors his late mother’s cultivars from 45 years ago, Casali has shared his genetics with Willie Nelson, David Crosby, and Snoop Dogg, and his flower has earned numerous Emerald Cup accolades.
- Jason Gellman – Ridgeline Farms (Humboldt County, Calif.): A second-generation farmer known for sustainable cultivation overlooking the King Range, Ridgeline has secured multiple Emerald Cup wins and a Gold medal at the 2024 California State Fair.
- Mark Greyshock – GreenShock Farms (Mendocino County, Calif.): Renowned for bold terpene expression and vibrant cultivars, Greyshock has been a fixture of the Emerald Triangle’s competitive breeding scene.
- Micaiah and Michael Philips – Abakaba Heirlooms (Oregon): A father-son team breeding since the early 1980s, Abakaba has earned top scores on Budist (98 for Tuscan Gelato) and medals at the California State Fair for cultivars like God’s Breath and Sherbert Haze.
Launch Timeline:
- Available Now: Abakaba Heirlooms genetics are already shipping via Zennetix’s tissue culture subscription platform.
- Coming January 2026: Genetics from the Emerald Triangle breeders – Huckleberry Hill, Ridgeline, and GreenShock – will become available nationwide.
“Cultivators have long struggled with inconsistent genetics and hidden pathogens,” Zennetix CEO Jason Begley said. “Through the Breeders’ Council, we’re not only preserving the legacy of these multigenerational families, but also ensuring that growers – from MSOs to home cultivators – can access clean, verified and award-winning cultivars at scale.”
Zennetix’s subscription-based model provides cultivators with consistent monthly deliveries of true-to-type, pathogen-free clones, solving supply challenges while allowing predictable planning for production and harvest. Zennetix also offers genetic storage and restoration to cultivators and breeders nationwide.
The Breeders’ Council’s mission is threefold:
- Preserve the genetic legacy of celebrated Emerald Triangle and Pacific Northwest cultivars.
- Protect cultivators through tissue culture technology that eliminates pathogens, viroids and mutations.
- Provide scalable access to clean, exclusive genetics with guaranteed consistency.
With tissue culture clones legally shippable across state lines, Zennetix is positioning the Breeders’ Council as a pivotal bridge between heritage cannabis breeding and modern, scalable cultivation.
