Two states launched their adult-use cannabis programs in April, with sales in New Mexico beginning April 1 while New Jersey dispensaries expanded from medical-only April 21. And both states had similar first-day sales.
New Mexico dispensaries recorded $1.96 million in adult-use sales in the first 24 hours, according to the state’s Cannabis Control Division.
New Jersey, opening a day after the 4/20 holiday, sold nearly $1.9 million in adult-use cannabis products to 12,438 customers (averaging about $150 per transaction) across 12 retail locations, according to the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission. Here's how their first-day sales stacked up against other states' adult-use launches.
