[PRESS RELEASE] – ATLANTA, April 16, 2026 – The Cannabis Center of Excellence Inc., serving as the lead research organization, in collaboration with the Georgia Medical Cannabis Society (GMCS) and Vertical Veterans Inc., announced the launch of the 2026 Georgia Medical Cannabis Patient Citizen Scientist Research Study, a collaborative, statewide research initiative designed to collect patient-reported data on medical cannabis use, treatment outcomes and access-related barriers in Georgia.

Patient-reported outcomes data remain limited in restricted medical cannabis programs, and this study intends to close that gap and provide updated patient information, building upon a 2021 research study conducted in Georgia led by Dr. Marion McNabb and GMCS. The 2026 study aims to hear from patients regarding medical cannabis use, access, education and outcomes.

The 2026 Georgia Medical Cannabis Patient Citizen Scientist Research Study is asking Georgia medical cannabis patients 18 years or older their opinions about their medical cannabis use through a 5-minute online survey. Participants are asked information about medical cannabis use and:

  • Health Conditions and symptoms helped with medical cannabis use
  • Medical cannabis Usage patterns
  • Treatment effectiveness
  • Access barriers
  • Registry navigation
  • Quality of life impact

Research study findings will be shared with medical cannabis stakeholders in Georgia to help inform policy, clinical education and patient-centered care strategies.

“This patient-reported outcome research study in Georgia will shed light on how and why medical patients choose medical cannabis, and findings will be shared in summer 2026,” said McNabb, the study principal investigator and president of the Cannabis Center of Excellence.

“Education and evidence must go hand in hand,” said Angela S. Weston, co-founder and director of education for the Georgia Medical Cannabis Society. “This study helps ensure that patient experiences are systematically understood and applied to improve outcomes.”
