A bill to legalize medical cannabis in Kansas stalled in committee during the legislature’s recent special session, as reported by Marijuana Moment.
The legislation, which was introduced by Rep. Cindy Holscher (D) and seven other cosponsors, was defeated in a vote by the Committee on Federal and State Affairs, the news outlet reported.
Introduced just last week, the bill provided guidelines for tracking medical cannabis distribution and detailed the required certification for health care provides who want to recommend medical cannabis to patients, although it did not establish a list of qualifying conditions.
Medical cannabis legalization had bipartisan support in the legislature this year, and Gov. Laura Kelly has indicated that she would support legalization efforts, according to a local ksn.com report.
