As the 2020 growing season begins, The Hemp Mine is building on its partnerships to not only expand its research capabilities, but also give its customers an advantage in the process.

The vertically integrated hemp genetics company based in Fair Play, South Carolina, recently announced that it has partnered with PHR Labs to offer discounted testing services and guidance for The Hemp Mine’s genetics customers.

PHR Labs is an ISO-17025 accredited hemp testing lab based in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Travis Higginbotham Jr., the owner and vice president of sales and business development for The Hemp Mine, says the company partnered with PHR Labs to help reduce its customers’ risk of non-compliance with the federal 0.3% tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) limit in hemp through discounted testing. Their partnership will also provide The Hemp Mine science-based information to implement into its genetics research and consumer goods, the company says in a news release.

“This industry is hungry for data that reduces farmer risk and allows for viable commercial hemp production longevity,” Higginbotham Jr. said in the news release. “Through this process we are incentivizing more awareness on proper testing methodology and frequency. In turn we build a regional database of cannabinoid progression per cultivar offered to the market.”

The Hemp Mine also recently formed a partnership with 3 Rivers Biotech, a hemp tissue culture nursery based in Mount Vernon, Washington.

Under the agreement, 3 Rivers will sell tissue culture clones derived from The Hemp Mine’s varieties to growers both across the U.S. and globally, 3 Rivers says in a news release. The company adds it will provide tissue culture starts at competitive wholesale prices to large nurseries to finish and ship to regional farmers.

"3 Rivers is excited to work with such a reputable and established team to distribute proven, true generation-zero tissue culture hemp clones," said 3 Rivers CEO Robert Allen in the release.

The Hemp Mine’s latest partnerships build on a network the company has been forming since its inception in 2018

PHR Labs is currently the company’s sole provider of ISO-accredited testing services for its research in-field trials, university field trials, internal breeding operations and consumer product line. The laboratory is also the exclusive testing sponsor for The Hemp Mine Field Days.

Back in April, The Hemp Mine announced its partnership with Adivina Nurseries LLC for licensure of two of its hemp cultivars—Southern Cat Daddy & Janet’s G—with plans to license additional cultivars for the upcoming 2021 season. The license will enable Adivina and The Hemp Mine to conduct joint research, expand their geographic footprints and work together through joint distribution and marketing systems.
