Chesaning, Mich. (December 26, 2018)—PRESS RELEASE—As Michigan prepares for new cannabis regulations to go into effect on Jan. 1, the Wolverine State is the next stop in Wana Brands’ global expansion plans. Already the country’s No. 1 edible brand according to BDS Analytics (Oct. 2018), Wana Brands’ partnership with High Life Farms will bring the edible maker’s gummies first to the state’s medical marijuana program and eventually to adult-use consumers as well.
“We chose to license Wana products to High Life Farms because they are proven operators with a very strong team and a great facility. We know from their experience and portfolio of other high-quality cannabis products, this is the team that will be effective in distributing Wana products throughout the state of Michigan,” noted Wana founder and CEO Nancy Whiteman. “Michigan has nearly double the population of Colorado and already has established a solid medical marijuana patient base. If you add in the state’s reasonable regulatory framework and tax structuring, Michigan becomes an important Midwest position for any cannabis company aiming for national coverage.”
Scheduled for availability in Michigan’s medical dispensaries January 2019, Wana Brands’ gummies deliver precise dosing for patients. Wana Gummies feature standardized dosing of 10 milligrams of THC per piece and three flavors available in class-specific options, including Mango Sativa, Watermelon Hybrid and Blueberry Indica. All Wana products are naturally flavored, vegan and gluten-free. Each package contains 10 gummies, providing a total of 100mg of THC per package, each produced with a specific class of trim. Wana expects to launch its line of Wana Drops, WanaCapsXR and Wana Disposable Vape products in Michigan by 2020.
“We knew Wana Brands was well aligned with High Life Farms’ desire to deliver a premium product and we’re looking forward to adding the brand to our offerings,” said Jason Pasko, COO of High Life Farms. “High Life Farms understands the importance of delivering medical marijuana patients quality and consistency they can count on. We test our products to ensure the safety of our patients.”
With a population of 9.9 million, Michigan is the first Midwest state to legalize adult-use cannabis. The $1.7 billion adult-use program is expected to come online in 2020. Nearly 300,000 Michigan residents already possess a medical marijuana card making it the second largest medical marijuana patient population in the United States. The state’s medical marijuana program currently allows for conditions including cancer, ALS, Crohn’s Disease, epilepsy, glaucoma, HIV/AIDS, seizures, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease.
Wana’s partnership with High Life Farms continues to solidify the edible brand’s national expansion from its Colorado headquarters. Wana’s popular products are already available in Colorado, Arizona, Oregon and Nevada dispensaries, and will soon be available in Michigan, Florida and Illinois.
