California Allows ZeroTol 2.0 for Foliar Cannabis Application

ZeroTol 2.0’s peroxyacetic acid (PAA)-based chemistry targets dormant fungus to control powdery mildew, Botrytis, Pythium, and more.

East Hartford, CT— PRESS RELEASE—The California Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) will allow the use of ZeroTol® 2.0 for foliar sprays on cannabis, according to BioSafe Systems, which produces the product. ZeroTol 2.0’s peroxyacetic acid (PAA)-based chemistry targets dormant fungus to control powdery mildew, Botrytis, Pythium, and more. The new foliar approval allows ZeroTol 2.0 to be applied for disinfestation up to the day of harvest.

Dusty Barroso, pest control adviser for BioSafe Systems, which produces ZeroTol, said, “ZeroTol 2.0 foliar applications gives the grower more options for controlling plant pathogens. It can be used as a standalone treatment or tank mixed with insecticides or fertilizers depending on IPM program needs.”

According to a spokesperson from the DPR, ZeroTol 2.0 is approved by the U.S. EPA for use on hemp up to the day of harvest. "In March, DPR approved USEPA’s label, meaning it’s registered in California for use on hemp as well. DPR has determined that the product label meets the 'legal use' criteria for cannabis in California, meaning that such use would not violate the legal prohibition on use in conflict with the pesticide label."
