The burgeoning medical marijuana industry in the Mid-South also means new jobs.
To take a look at what sort of opportunities may soon be available, MBJ reviewed Delta Medical Cannabis Co.'s medical marijuana cultivation application. The Jonesboro-based company is one of five businesses that won the state's marijuana cultivation licenses. Delta Medical's facility will be located in Jackson County's Newport.
In its application, however, the company said it will create 30 jobs, with average wage — plus benefits — of $19.91 per hour (roughly $42,000 a year). The economic impact indirectly would create 47 additional jobs, according to the analysis.
Delta Medical's organizational chart has several of the positions filled already.
