The Source+ to Partner with Nevada Legal Services Throughout National Expungement Week

The dispensary to host educational seminar on sealing records for those with minor cannabis convictions.

LAS VEGAS – Sept. 29, 2021 – PRESS RELEASE – The Source+, an award-winning cannabis company with dispensaries in the Las Vegas Valley and Reno, has partnered with Nevada Legal Services (NLS) to provide education and resources to the Las Vegas community about sealing criminal records, including recently decriminalized marijuana convictions. Elizabeth Carmona, Esq., from NLS will host a presentation regarding the basics of Nevada criminal record sealing at The Source+’s community Treehouse, located at 2550 S. Rainbow Blvd. #11, from 3-4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 30.

National Expungement Works (N.E.W) is a national organization that has designated Sunday, Sept. 26 through Sunday, Oct. 3, as a week of action and awareness. Throughout the week, cities around the country organize and host free events with legal aid to expunge, clear or seal eligible criminal records, offer access to social resources and highlight services that support re-entry. The State of Nevada took historic steps during the 80th legislative session, passing AB192, which provides a streamlined process for sealing convictions for possession of less than one ounce of marijuana.

“Unfortunately, too many in our communities still don’t know about this legislation. If they do, they don’t understand how to navigate the process of sealing their records, and we are happy to provide those resources to our community,” said The Source+’s chief commercial officer, Brandon Weigand. “Assembly Bill 192 is an important step towards righting the inequities and injustices that have burdened individuals with past marijuana convictions.”

NLS is a non-profit organization providing free legal services to low-income Nevadans, assisting every county in Nevada. The organization is funded through various sources, primarily funded through a grant from the federal government by way of the Legal Services Corporation. Since 1981, the staff of NLS has represented clients in federal courts, state courts and in administrative hearings. The staff negotiates on behalf of its clients where possible to try to resolve matters without the need for litigation. NLS has provided legal advice to countless Nevadans seeking assistance over the years in a host of civil legal issues. More information on NLS can be found at www.nlslaw.net.
