The Michigan Marijuana Regulatory Agency (MRA) issued a voluntary cannabis product recall Sept. 24 due to microbial failures.
According to the public health and safety bulletin, several batches of cannabis were run through a mechanical trimmer contaminated with the banned chemical residues Bifenthrin and Chlorfenapyr.
The product recall affects flower and pre-rolls produced by Michigan Medical Marijuana, LLC, DBA Glo. The microbial failures occurred during retesting of the products, according to the MRA’s bulletin.
The following batches of cannabis contain the chemical residues:

The MRA advises consumers who bought these products to return them to the retailer where they were purchased for proper disposal.
MRA spokesman David Harns told MLive.com that 1.69 pounds of the contaminated cannabis made it to consumers, but would not share the total weight of product affected or how much was on store shelves at the time of the recall.
Harns also told the news outlet that the agency cannot comment on when the products were cleared for sale, when they tested positive for the pesticides or how regulators determined that the trimmer caused the contamination.
“I can’t comment on ... the questions because we are still investigating,” Harns said. “More info should be available once the investigation is complete.”
Glo is licensed to grow up to 500 cannabis plants at a facility in Kalkaska, MLive.com reported. Andrew Keiswetter, retail operations manager for The Woods Cheboygan, told the news outlet that he spoke to a representative from Glo and was told that the company purchased a new trim machine that had the residual contaminants.
“The rep for Glo gave us a heads-up. To minimize any kind of damage with customers, we pulled it ASAP and sat on it until we got the news that we were in fact going to have to have it destroyed,” Keiswetter told MLive.com, adding that the dispensary pulled the affected product off the shelves Aug. 29.
