Colorado’s legal marijuana industry is booming, recording almost $1 billion in sales at the end of 2015, according to the State’s Department of Revenue.
Sales of legal marijuana soared by 42 percent compared with the previous year, said the Cannabis Business Alliance (CBA). The CBA welcomed the boost in sales saying the $135 million of taxes raised from the $996,184,788 of sales would help contribute to the building of new schools in the state.
Nationwide, Americans spent $5.4 billion on legal weed last year. Colorado has become a trailblazer for marijuana reform when it legalized recreational sales in 2012.
