RICHMOND, Va (WVIR) - Democratic Virginia Senator Mark Warner wants to help the Virginia families he has met struggling with ways to treat their sick children. He's now co-sponsoring federal legislation related to medical marijuana. The bill would provide greater legal protection for families pursuing this treatment.
He says he's been touched by patients like Haley Smith, who have seen tremendous progress through medical marijuana oil.
"I hope that Virginia and the nation will move forward to make sure these parents can get access to this drug because it works for these kids," said Warner.
Lisa Smith's 15-year-old daughter, Haley, has struggled with severe epilepsy since she was a baby.
