The state Department of Licensing and Regulation said Friday it will comply with a court order that extends a Sept.15 deadline for 206 medical marijuana businesses operating under emergency rules to get a license or shut down to Dec. 15.
The state had issued rules on Tuesday that would have let 108 medical marijuana businesses stay open until Dec. 15 while they wait for the state Medical Marijuana Licensing Board to consider their applications for a license. These businesses submitted initial applications by a Feb. 15 deadline, as well as the second step of the license application, which was supposed to include approval from their local communities, by June 15.
Another 98 businesses that didn't complete both sets of their license application by June 15 were going to get cease and desist orders next week and would have to shut down.
