On July 1, the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food, and Markets (VAAFM) announced that it plans to withdraw its USDA-approved Hemp Production Plan beginning Dec. 31, 2022.

VAAFM stated in a letter that it will work with the USDA to “ensure a smooth transition for its growers, including participating in a joint webinar, updating the agency website to refer potential registrants to the USDA grower licensing system and conducting direct outreach to potential 2023 registrants.” The organization also said it would continue to provide support to hemp producers and processors as able.
