LAS VEGAS (January 2020) – PRESS RELEASE – THRIVE Cannabis Marketplace has announced that it will open its newest location in Carlin, Nev., in April 2020. The store will be situated just off Interstate 80 on exit 280, in the small city of fewer than 2,500 residents. Located near the western border of Elko County in northeastern Nevada, Carlin is less than 115 miles from the Idaho border. The new dispensary will mark the sixth location for THRIVE, the state’s largest independently owned cannabis retailer, and will be the company’s first dispensary in Elko County.
“We're really excited to expand to Elko County and specifically Carlin. We’ve dedicated a lot of time and resources over the last year working with Carlin City Council as well as the Elko County Commissioners to ensure THRIVE will be a great asset to the community,” said Mitch Britten, founder and chief executive officer of THRIVE.
THRIVE’s Carlin dispensary will employ approximately 25 Elko County residents, hiring staff for all positions from front desk agents to management positions. The facility will be open seven days per week and is permitted to operate 24 hours a day; however, actual operational hours are expected to be announced in late March.
Building construction, progression photos and updates on the Elko County project will be posted on the THRIVE Instagram @ThriveDispensary and on their website.
In 2015, Britten was drawn to Nevada by its rigorous regulatory structure. He and his family moved to the state after determining its intense and all-inclusive regulatory environment could further legitimize the medical cannabis industry, as well as what was then the future development of the recreational cannabis industry. THRIVE Cannabis Marketplace opened its first Nevada dispensary for medical patients in 2016 in North Las Vegas, and a second location later that year in Downtown Las Vegas. Its third location, just west of the Las Vegas Strip, opened in September 2019. THRIVE opened its first Northern Nevada location in Reno in November and recently announced a new location in the Southern Highlands neighborhood of Las Vegas, which will open in April 2020.
Under Britten’s leadership, THRIVE remains committed to understanding and facilitating the needs of its customers while honoring the laws governing cannabis. While providing the widest variety and highest-quality cannabis, THRIVE aims to set a positive example in the cannabis industry by eliminating negative stigmas and inaccurate stereotypes surrounding cannabis consumption. Supporting charities, culture and the local economy are all important to Britten and the entire THRIVE team, who strive to create an upbeat atmosphere based on professionalism, compassion and security.
