Even before Raphael Mechoulam first discovered and isolated THC in 1964, humans had a propensity to search for, breed and consume cannabis with elevated THC percentages. Be it cannabis or liquor, some humans desire the strongest possible effects.
But this desire has limitations; after all, you rarely see someone order a shot of Everclear alcohol at a bar. This is not to say nobody consumes grain alcohol. A similar product traditionally known as “moonshine” is still prevalent in the U.S., yet both products are typically mixed with flavorings or additional beverages before being consumed. However, some still prefer their alcohol straight, similar to how some in cannabis prefer to “dab” crystallized THC as their method of use. Like high-proof spirits, crystallized THCA (aka “diamonds”) is usually consumed along with separated terpenes. This mix of THCA and terpenes together creates a heightened effect, as well as a pleasant odor and flavor.
