One of the qualities that separates gray market or illicit cannabis and legally grown plants is that regulated cannabis has been “tested” as required by state laws. But what does tested actually mean? Why is cannabis tested, and what is it analyzed for?

Before cannabis or cannabis-derived products are sold, they are legally required to be tested and analyzed, and then a certificate of analysis (COA) is assigned to the product or cannabis. There are many implications of untested cannabis products, and lab analyses not only boost consumer confidence, but can give cultivators peace of mind, too.
