Some D.C. lawmakers are pushing to pull marijuana completely out of the shadows with a new bill that was introduced on Tuesday.
The legislation would make it legal for people to buy and sell cannabis in the District.
Council members have tried to get measures like this passed before but kept hitting a brick wall: the federal government.
You can grow it, smoke it, eat it and gift up to an ounce of marijuana in D.C., but people are not allowed to buy or sell cannabis.
