JOHNSTOWN, Ontario, June 28, 2024 – PRESS RELEASE – PURPLEFARM, cannabis pioneers and crafters of premium flower using cutting edge genetics, has embarked on a dynamic partnership. The Canadian giant has teamed up with Santa Cruz’s artificial intelligence (AI) groundbreaker Neatleaf to automate and optimize its cultivation processes using the Neatleaf Spyder system. Roll out began in March 2024 at PURPLEFARM’s state-of-the-art, 86,000-square-foot facility in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

The Neatleaf Spyder, a fully autonomous robotic platform, is a cable-based system that scans indoor cultivation crops, generating millions of data points monitoring everything from individual plant height and health to pest infestations, in 24-hour cycles. The real-time, actionable data provides invaluable insights for operators.

On teaming up with PURPLEFARM and expanding into Canada, Neatleaf CEO ElmarMair said, “Spreading our wings into New Brunswick, with such a well-respected name as PURPLEFARM, is why I built my company in the first place. It’s so exciting to see it all come together. To be able to bring precise and actionable data to the table and help this organization streamline production and improve efficiencies and quality of output is rewarding. And this is just the beginning.”

For PURPLEFARM, priding itself on legacy craftsmanship coupled with innovation and a forward-thinking vision, partnering with Neatleaf was something of a no-brainer for the company’s founder, Mitchell Alswiti.

“Since PURPLEFARM integrated Neatleaf's Spyder system, our cultivation has reached new heights of consistency, embodying our commitment to pioneering not only with new cultivars but also with new technology,” Alswiti said. “With the Spyder system, PURPLEFARM’s yields have soared by 20%, underscoring our dedication to pushing the boundaries of craft cultivation. 24/7 oversight has become our beacon of risk management, enabling us to safeguard our crops, from detecting pests, diseases and viroids early on to minimizing disruptions. The Spyder system allows us to focus on cultivating the best flower for our partners.”

There is an upward trajectory for this partnership. PURPLEFARM is seizing the opportunity to expand across its affiliated sites both domestically and internationally. This growth, combined with its innovative adoption of machine learning technology, positions PURPLEFARM to secure vital margins in the notoriously slim cannabis industry, propelling the company into the future.
