BARRE, Vt. —The mayor of a Vermont city is proposing an ordinance that would require residents who grow marijuana to obtain licenses.
The Times Argus reports Barre Mayor Thomas Lauzon introduced a draft of the measure ahead of Tuesday's City Council meeting. Under the ordinance, growers would pay $250 for a license and $100 for an annual renewal. Growers using lights would be required to get approval by an electrician.
The proposal gives law enforcement the ability to inspect growing sites. Lauzon is considering instituting a private database for license holders, as well.
