Utah House Votes to Replace Proposition 2, Medical Cannabis Ballot Initiative

The Republican-dominated Utah House of Representatives approved the substitute bill by a vote of 60-13.

SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah State Legislature is voting in a special session to replace Proposition 2, the medical cannabis ballot initiative approved by voters last month.

In a vote just moments ago, the Republican-dominated Utah House of Representatives approved the substitute bill by a vote of 60-13.

The bill now goes to the Utah State Senate for consideration.

Prop. 2 was approved by 53% of voters in a contentious campaign that saw political and cultural forces working against it.
