JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — PRESS RELEASE — Florida Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried announced Monday she has appointed attorney Sally Kent Peebles to the Florida Medical Cannabis Advisory Committee.
"This group of industry experts, advocates, advisors and consumers is formed to help give input, guidance and insight on moving the medical cannabis program forward as voted on by the constituents of Florida," Fried said in a letter of appointment dated May 30. "I am certain that your knowledge and experience will be a valuable asset to the board's deliberations."
Kent Peebles, a Jacksonville native, is a partner at Vicente Sederberg LLP, a national firm specializing in cannabis law and policy. She spent several years practicing cannabis law in the firm's Denver office before returning to Florida to open the firm's Jacksonville office in April 2018. She quickly became a leading voice on cannabis law and policy in Florida, and Folio Weekly magazine included her in its "Best of Jax 2018" list of the "Best Marijuana Lawyers."
"After years of cutting my teeth at the forefront of medical cannabis law in Colorado, it has been very rewarding to return to Florida to apply my experience and knowledge in my home state," said Kent Peebles, who focuses her practice on regulatory, corporate, and commercial real estate matters.
"I am honored to be selected to this advisory role, and I look forward to working with Commissioner Fried and the other committee members to help advance the state's medical cannabis program," she said. "There are countless patients throughout Florida who could benefit from medical cannabis. They should be able to access high-quality products safely and consistently, as voters intended."
