City commissioners voted in favor of banning medical marijuana dispensaries within Winter Park at a meeting Monday afternoon.
The measure, which repealed and replaced the city’s previous rules on medical cannabis, passed by a 4-1 vote with Commissioner Sarah Sprinkel voting in opposition.

“It was a constitutional amendment that 71 percent...voted in favor of,” Sprinkel said of her vote.
Mayor Steve Leary noted that people have access to medical marijuana at Knox Cannabis Dispensary in nearby Orlando, and opted to vote against allowing a similar dispensary in Winter Park.
