The National Party will vote for the Government's medicinal marijuana bill, and will allow some of its MPs to vote for a Green Party bill that goes further.
The Government's proposed law seeks to set up a scheme to allow cannabis-based medicinal products, and provide a criminal defense for anyone terminally ill charged with possession of marijuana.

Green MP Chloe Swarbrick's members bill goes far further, allowing the terminally ill and debilitated the ability to legally grow cannabis if prescribed it by their doctor.
Both bills will appear before the House this week for their first reading, the Government's on Tuesday and Swarbrick's on Wednesday.
