Deal reached in Congress to allow vote on attorney general nomination

Senators announced a bipartisan agreement Tuesday that will break a logjam over an anti-trafficking bill and pave the way for a vote on Loretta Lynch, President Obama's long-stalled nominee for attorney general.

‎Sens. John Cornyn (R-Texas) and Patty Murray (D-Wash.) forged the compromise after weeks of stalemate that had left action in the chamber at a near standstill.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) had refused to consider the Lynch nomination to replace Atty. Gen. Eric Holder Jr. until work on the trafficking bill was ‎completed.
