Canada Wants to Know How Much Customers Are Paying for Cannabis

The survey is part of a broader statistics-gathering effort.

Statistics Canada is conducting an ongoing survey to determine the average retail prices of medical and adult-use cannabis in the country’s provinces and regions.

Check out the survey here.

The questions are straightforward: “I paid [price] for [quantity of cannabis] of [quality of cannabis] in [city] to [medicate or use recreationally].” The answers are then filtered into a bar graph spanning various geographic areas. For example, as of early July, the average price of a gram of flower (medical and adult-use) is $6.83 in British Columbia; in the Northwest Territories, a gram is averaging out at $10.50.

All told, the statistics gathered from that survey will be part of Statistics Canada’s cannabis hub, where business owners and customers can track all sorts of health and economic trends in the industry.

Adult-use sales begin Oct. 17 in Canada.
