Vireo Health, a multistate cannabis company, announced June 8 that it has terminated its employment agreement with Bruce Linton, the former CEO of Canopy Growth.

Linton joined Vireo as executive chairman in November 2019, after being ousted from Canopy Growth last July. Linton’s current term on Vireo’s Board of Directors will expire at the company’s July 15 Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, according to the announcement.

“We wish Bruce well in his future endeavors,” Vireo founder and Chief Executive Officer Kyle Kingsley, M.D., said in a public statement. “Our organization will remain focused on executing a strategy which benefits all stakeholders and developing our core medical markets of Arizona, Maryland, Minnesota, New Mexico, New York, and Pennsylvania.”

Vireo does not expect to fill the role of executive chairman at this time, according to the announcement.
