Hunter Buffington, executive director of the Hemp Feed Coalition, said of the FDA not yet approving applications to include hempseed cake and meal in chicken feed because it has approved Epidiolex, which contains CBD, as a pharmaceutical drug. This has made FDA unwilling to regulate CBD in another category, and the agency has stated hemp ingredients may contain trace amounts of CBD and THC from having contact with other parts of the plant.

Deanie Elsner, Charlotte’s Web’s chief executive officer, said in a news release about passage of a new law in California that legalizes ingestible CBD products in the state.
Kevin Barnes, the U.S. Department of Agriculture National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) acting administrator, said about an inaugural survey the agency sent out to 20,500 producers in October to collect information on the total planted and harvested area, yield, production and value of hemp in the country.
