In California, 2023 brings a lifting of the canopy cap for cannabis cultivation. Cannabis companies now have unlimited space to cultivate, as well as the ability to obtain multiple new licenses. California has also suspended its cultivation tax in the new year. Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies, including the Campaign Against Marijuana Planting (CAMP), will continue attempting to cull the herd of illicit market cultivators and operators in the state.
