Orange County's First Medical Marijuana Dispensary Opens in Newburgh

Curaleaf's dispensary is the first to open following the expansion of the state program.

NEWBURGH, NY (APRIL 04) — Curaleaf New York has announced the opening of its new medical marijuana dispensary in Newburgh, which is the first to open following the New York State Department of Health’s expansion of its medical marijuana program, according to a press release.

The dispensary is located at 8 North Plank Road, which is a convenient five-minute drive from the intersection of I-87 and I-84. Curaleaf’s dispensary is currently the only site in Orange County for medical-grade cannabis, and it will serve patients in Dutchess, Westchester, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan and Ulster counties and surrounding communities.

“When we made the decision to support having this industry in New York we did so because we wanted to help those individuals who were suffering, especially our children and veterans, that were not benefitting from other treatments,” said Sen. Bill Larkin (R-Cornwall-on-Hudson). “As the first medical marijuana dispensary in Orange County opens right here in Newburgh, I will be proud to know that those in our own community that we sought to help will be getting the treatment they need to improve their quality of life and that of their families.”

“We are excited to open our doors and begin providing patients in Newburgh and nearby areas with the high-quality medical cannabis treatments they need and deserve,” said Michelle Bodner, President of PalliaTech NY, which operates the dispensary under the brand name Curaleaf New York. “We have received a warm welcome from the Orange County business community, doctors, patients, elected officials and other local groups, and we look forward to working together and ensuring that those with serious illnesses have access to these important treatments.”

The Newburgh dispensary provides patients with cancer, chronic pain, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other serious illnesses access to medical-grade cannabis. Curaleaf’s products are formulated to pharmaceutical standards and are available in a variety of forms, including capsules, tablets, tinctures, oils and under-the-tongue strips.

The dispensary is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. It is managed by a licensed pharmacist and counselors are on staff to assist patients with finding the most effective products to treat their conditions. Each employee has been vetted through a comprehensive background check and has received rigorous training to ensure that all dispensed products meet Curaleaf New York’s high standards of quality.

Along with the Newburgh location, Curaleaf New York will operate dispensaries in Plattsburgh, Carle Place on Long Island and in Queens.
