The cannabis industry is fraught with legal pitfalls amid an ever-changing regulatory landscape. Staying on top of your local and state rules will help, but there are strategies that all cannabis business owners can pursue to identify red flags and avoid legal problems while competing in the fragmented marketplace.

Today, April 2, at Cannabis Conference 2019, a panel of experts will dig into the legal and HR-related concerns that cannabis business owners should bear in mind. This educational panel has been designed by the Cannabis Business Times and Cannabis Dispensary staffs, and the content will target both cultivators and cannabis retailers.

“From product liability to state and local compliance, ensure you are protected from seed to sale,” the staff writes. “Plus, learn how to prepare for ‘worst-case scenarios’ that cannabis business owners encounter (including raids, consumer lawsuits, criminal offenses) before they arise.”

The panel includes: Maria Denzin, owner of MJ HR Strategic Solutions; Matthew Abel, founder of Cannabis Counsel, P.L.C; and Ann Grimaldi, principal of Grimaldi Law Offices.

The three speakers will bring experience from different jurisdictions and legal vantage points, illuminating ways that cannabis business owners may successfully balance the needs of local regulators, state regulators and the growing influence of human resources best practices and ethics.

Cannabis Conference 2019, produced by the award-winning publications Cannabis Business Times and Cannabis Dispensary, is in its third year, and has expanded upon the success of previous events’ cultivation education to include for the first time a dispensary track for retail businesses and employees. In addition to its in-depth educational programming on cannabis cultivation and retail operations, the event features a sold-out expo floor that spans 70,000 square feet and showcases more than 125 technology and solutions providers that serve growers and dispensaries.
