Cleveland's First Dispensary Opens; More Than Half of Licensed Marijuana Retailers Still Aren't in Operation

Rise Cleveland opened its doors at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 1, making it the first dispensary operating in the city of Cleveland. The location at 1222 Prospect Ave. is a stone's throw from Progressive Field and Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.

Rise is the dispensary brand of Chicago-based Green Thumb Industries (GTI), founded in 2014. Across the U.S., GTI operates 13 cultivation or manufacturing facilities and holds 89 licenses for retail locations. It has some kind of physical operation in 12 states.
