A comprehensive ordinance updating the city’s framework for
cannabis regulation will go before the San Francisco Board of Supervisors on
Tuesday, and it includes one amendment that would allow cannabis retailers to
initially apply only for four retail permits each.
Some agree the amendment proposed by Supervisor Aaron Peskin could help level the playing field in the fledgling industry by ensuring it’s not dominated by one major business — but instead open to a diverse set of retailers. Peskin said his proposal would prevent “monopolistic owners from strangling innovation.”
