How is your business celebrating 4/20 this year?
Today’s industry holiday gives dispensary owners and cannabis brands a chance to present new deals and engaging events to their customers.
Here are some of this year’s offerings.
Nevada-based retailer The Source+ hosted a weeklong 4/20 celebration from April 13 through April 20 featuring product specials, vendors, live entertainment and giveaways at its four locations throughout the state.
On April 13, The Source+ launched an online sweepstakes for a chance to win two three-day general admission passes to the 2022 Las Vegas Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC), one of the largest electronic music dance festivals in North America. Customers who sign up for The Source+’s rewards program during the giveaway are eligible to enter, as are existing rewards members. The giveaway ends April 22, and two winners will be selected to receive two passes each.
The Source+ also held multiple celebrations leading up to 4/20; customers who made purchases from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at either the company’s North Las Vegas store on Friday, April 15, or the Henderson store on Saturday, April 16, received two free tacos from Taco 24, a popular local food truck.
On April 19, all The Source+ stores celebrated the eve of 4/20 with a variety of specials on CAMP, a Nevada-based solventless brand.
From 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. on April 20, The Source+’s Sahara location will partner with Cheba Hut, a cannabis-themed restaurant, and Happy Daze, a local smoke shop, and customers who make purchases from any of the three stores will be entered into a 4/20 circuit raffle for a chance to win gift cards to Cheba Hut and Happy Daze, as well as a voucher for $100, in the form of 2,500 rewards points, to use at The Source+. Raffle winners will be announced every half hour between 12 p.m. and 7 p.m. on April 20.
Each of The Source+’s four locations across Nevada will feature live music from local DJs on April 20, as well as “Meet Your Maker” pop-ups with the cultivation and production teams from CAMP, 8Fold and ONEderful.
In addition, The Source+ will hand out scratch cards with every purchase. Each card offers a variety of coupons, with the grand prize being a pound of cannabis for $4.20. The coupons will be valid from April 27 through May 7.
The Source+ will also offer customers a “Surprise and Delight” special at 4:20 p.m. at all its locations on April 20. -Melissa Schiller
Michigan’s Herbology Cannabis Co. will give away $10,000 in gas cards to commemorate 4/20 this year.
The company partnered with MKX Oil Co., one of Michigan’s largest cannabis brands, to give away $25 gas cards to the first 400 customers in line on April 20.

Chalice Brands, which operates 16 retail locations across Oregon, is celebrating 4/20 with a weeklong lineup of promotions from some of the state’s largest vendors, including Oregon Roots, 54 Green Acres, Select and more.
The company’s daily promotions began April 15, and Chalice Brands offered 50% off all in-house products and vendor pop-ups on April 20.

Sacramento-based Perfect Union, California’s largest wholly owned cannabis company, is offering 30% discounts on products from more than 23 brands this 4/20. Some of those brands include Wyld, Big Pete’s, Dime, Sublime, UpNorth, Fig Farms, Jetty, Zach & Ted’s, 530 and more. The dispensary chain is also offering 1-gram prerolls rolled with full indoor flower on sale for four for $20. In addition, the first 100 customers who make a minimum $30 purchase at the Sacramento-Northside, Sacramento-Eastside, Marysville and Wild Seed Wellness locations will receive a Lime preroll for $0.01. The Piperazzi, an Arizona-based online smoke shop, is hosting the Freedom Fest starting at 3 p.m. on 4/20 at Lucie’s Sage & Sand Bar in Glendale. The event features live music, prize raffles, a blunt-rolling contest and food truck vendors. In addition, there will be a 420 trivia contest and a cannabis-inspired costume contest. The music lineup includes performances from local rappers like Lil Flip, Knotty Kidd, Pushing Pluto, Dr. Thraxx, Nugg G., and Murkems. The event goes until 1 a.m. General admission is $25, VIP tickets are $45 and sponsor packages are $200. -Tony Lange
Massachusetts-based Insa is inviting customers at its retail locations in Salem, Easthampton and both dispensaries in Springfield to take part in a virtual world this 4/20. The immersive experience gives customers a behind-the-scenes look at cannabis cultivation, Insa’s laboratory, and the kitchen, where a culinary team handcrafts the company’s edibles, with the virtual tour being delivered through Oculus headsets at each retail location. Back in the real world, Insa’s Salem and West Columbus Avenue location in Springfield will have local food trucks. Customers at all locations will receive free swag and discounts on Insa cannabis. Michigan’s largest cannabis company, Lume will host a 4/20 raffle with six effected-based prizes: Casper mattress (dream); Theragun Elite and Lume CBD package (recover); 65-inch Roku Smart TV (unwind); Illadelph Bong and Lume product package (center); medium Big Green Egg grill (focus); and VIP Pine Knob Experience (move). To enter, customers who spend $75 at one of the company’s five retail locations will receive a raffle ticket, as well as additional raffle tickets for every additional $25 spent.
In addition, Lume is offering 30% off all non-flower products, $4.20 grams of flower, $17 eighths of Chem de la Chem, Lightsaber and Jenny Kush, buy two get one free preroll five-packs and a free gram of flower with any $100 purchase. -Tony Lange
Mint Cannabis, a multi-state cannabis operator with locations in Arizona and Michigan, is adding a twist to its 4/20 celebration this year. The dispensary is introducing two shuttles to transport visitors to its Arizona locations and is giving consumers a chance to win a free trip for two to Las Vegas.
According to a press release, Mint Cannabis received a Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport license to transport visitors 21 years and older to its flagship dispensary in Tempe, Ariz. The #420 shuttle will make complimentary pick-ups at all three Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport terminals and pick up its first group of passengers at 10 a.m. CT on April 20 from Terminal 4.
The dispensary’s second shuttle, the #710, “will have a set schedule that, based on demand, will include free pick-ups from Valley resorts, special events, conventions, health and wellness facilities, and senior living communities. This shuttle will drop off guests to any one of the Mint’s three Valley dispensaries in Phoenix, Tempe, and Mesa,” the release states. Individuals can visit mintdeals.com/shuttle to reserve a ride.
But the fun doesn’t stop there. At Mint’s Arizona locations in Phoenix, Tempe and Mesa, consumers can expect to see a live DJ and receive complimentary giveaways, vendor swag bags and un-infused food. According to the release, individuals will also have “the chance to enter a free three-day trip for two to Las Vegas with accommodation at the ARIA Resort & Casino.”
In addition, Mint will be giving away a free cup of coffee infused with 10 mg of THC to adults 21 years and older from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. April 20 at its Tempe location.

The cannabis-themed restaurant in Cincinnati, Ohio, is partnering with Long Play, a national cannabis portfolio company, to celebrate 4/20. On the big day, for just $4.20, consumers can receive one of Cheba Hut’s "nug-size" sandwiches served on a limited-edition frisbee with a side of Wille’s Reserve rolling papers.
